She received an MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2022 and a BFA in Textile Design from Donghua University in 2018.

Her paintings investigate emotion as a force that transforms the body, space, and atmosphere. Central to her practice is the tension between charcoal lines and fields of color: lines suggest fragmented bodies, while stains, washes, and dry pigment surround, interrupt, or extend them. Working on unprimed canvas and paper, Li allows images to develop through gesture, absorption, and revision, without determining their meaning in advance.

Li’s practice has developed from an exploration of the emotional and social pressures experienced by women toward a broader investigation of how emotion acts upon bodies and their surroundings. This ongoing inquiry connects her earlier figurative work with her current paintings.

In 2026, Li is an artist in residence with the SCAD Alumni Atelier in Lacoste, France, serving as a Presidential Alumni Atelier Ambassador.
